*** The term “Cracker Barrel” originated in the frontier west. Soda crackers were shipped via wagons in large barrels to prevent them from breaking on their long journey west. Often the cracker barrel was placed in a general store and surrounded by chairs and crates and became a welcoming place for the local community to gather. It is a term often used in Scouting and several ecclesiastical communities.
