Order straw, marsh hay by April 17

We are ready for straw and hay mulch orders for spring delivery.  

For those of you new to our garden, we make straw and hay mulch available through this order process using the same system you used to register for the garden.  

STRAW: Straw is incredibly helpful for mulching in garden beds! This strategy helps to minimize weed growth (less weeding), retain soil moisture (less watering), and as it breaks down, it will improve soil texture. For a full size plot (20'x20') we suggest 4 bales. For a half-size plot (10'x20'), we suggest 2 bales. For raised bed accessible gardens, the garden will provide straw - do not order (new for 2026).

MARSH HAY:  Marsh hay is much like straw in that it is an excellent mulch and has many of the same characteristics, but it does provide a bit more weed control if used properly and as it breaks down, it contributes more essential plant nutrients to the soil.  It does break down a bit faster than straw.  We have used marsh hay in the garden in the past with success. If you are unsure which to use, choose straw.  

Orders should be placed by April 17 in order to be ready for delivery to your garden spaces on or about our opening day, April 25.
